Deutsch: Donato Barcaglia (1849-1930): Liebe macht blind, Ausschnitt, figurative Darstellung des Sprichworts „Liebe macht blind“ in einer klassizistischen Rundplastik auf runder, profilierter Plinthe mit Rosenstock, Marmor, quaderförmiger Steinsockel, lebensgroß, bezeichnet: „D. Barcaglia Milano 1884“, Entstehungsjahr 1884, nach 1925: Stuttgart, Villa Berg, oberer Absatz des unteren Treppenhauses, nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg: Stuttgart, Städtisches Lapidarium, heute: Stuttgart, Staatsgalerie, Rotunde (als Leihgabe des Städtischen Lapidariums). Erhaltungszustand: fehlende Zehen am linken Fuß der Frau, Putte mit abgebrochenem Flügel und Füßen, Rosenstock verwittert, Schwärzungen. Eine nackte Schöne von sinnlicher Weiblichkeit wehrt sich zaghaft gegen den Angriff eines geflügelten und gelockten Amorknaben, der sie hinterrücks überfällt und sich auf ihrem Rücken festsetzt. Ihr Antlitz, umrahmt von wallenden Botticelli-Ringellocken, spiegelt die Leidenschaft, ihr halbgeöffneter Mund die Atemlosigkeit der Begierde. Der Putto verschließt ihr mit seinen dicken Fingerchen die Augen, die gar nichts sehen wollen, weil sie von dem Geliebten träumt.
